FAQs - Getting started with sparky™

  • How can I create a Parent/Guardian account?

Start by purchasing a subscription. To purchase a subscription, go to https://lung-games.com and click on “Subscribe.” Once you have paid for your subscription, you will get email detailing how to set up an Account and download Sparky™.  The email will also include your unique subscription code(s), which you will need when you add your patient(s)/registered user(s).  If you have purchased the subscription that includes a spirometer, it will be delivered within 7 – 10 days to the address you provided when you subscribed. Step-by-step instructions are provided on the “Patient/Parent/Guardian” page of the website.

NOTE that you will need to download an Authenticator (Microsoft or Google Authenticator) before you set up your account.

  • How do I add children to my Parent / Guardian account?

Once you have set up your account, go to the https://lung-games.com  website, and click on “Login”. The first time you log in, you will be prompted to set up your 2-factor-authentication (2FA). Once you are logged in, click on your Account (top right corner) and click “Patients”. You will then be taken to the patient view, where you can click on the button: “add patient”. The form will then guide you.  Do NOT use your email or password for your child. They need a separate Username (Nickname) and thier own simple password that they will remember. This is to protect your child's privacy. Step-by-step instructions are provided on the “Patient/Parent/Guardian” page of the website.

  • How do I manage my Sparky™ account?

At any time, you can go to https://lung-games.com and login to your account, using the login button at the top of the screen. Here, you can manage your account. Step-by-step instructions are provided on the “Patient/Parent/Guardian” page of the website

  • How do I install Sparky™ App on my tablet or phone?

Once you have paid for your subscription, you will get email detailing how to set up an Account and download Sparky. Scan teh QR code on your spirometer box or go to the https://lung-games.com website and click on the “Download” button on the top bar. Both will take you to a page with a link to download the game to your tablet or phone. You will find the downloaded Sparky game file in your Downloads on your tablet or phone. You will need to make sure your device allows you to download from unknown sources (you can change the setting back once you have downloaded Sparky).  Click on the file and it will automatically install.

  • How do I set up Sparky™ for my child to play?

NOTE that you can only play Sparky™ when you are online, so the measures are sent to the database. Ensure your wi-fi or data are enabled. Before your child can start the game, you need to add them as players to the game. After you have downloaded Sparky™ to your tablet or phone, open the App and login with your Parent/Guardian account. Check the “Parent/Guardian” box and click “Login.” You will be prompted to input your 2FA code. Once you have logged in to your game as a parent/Guardian, you will be asked to add your child or children.

  • What is two factor authentication (2FA) or multifactor authentication (MFA)?

Please note that this is not specific to Sparky™, but it is an industry standard. We have implemented two factor authentication as Sparky generates medical information about your child, and we want to protect that securely.

Two-factor authentication (2FA), also known as two-step verification, is a subset of multifactor authentication, which just means more than one way of authenticating the account is required.  2FA is a security process that requires users to provide two different forms of identification to access an account or system, adding an extra layer of security beyond just a password. This helps prevent unauthorized access, even if a password is compromised. Here's a breakdown:

    How it works:

    Step 1:

Users typically provide their username and password, which is "something you know".

    Step 2:

They then need to provide a second form of identification, often a code generated by an authenticator app, sent via SMS, or a security key or it may be facial recognition, a fingerprint or a scan of the eye . This is "something you have" or "something you are".

Lung-Games requires an Authenticator App (Google or Microsoft).

  • Do I have to be online to play Sparky™?

Yes. Sparky™ can only be played when online. The results of the lung function test will be stored in the online database when the Sparky™ game is being played.

  • I AM GETTING A MESSAGE THAT MY PASSWORD OR USERNAME IS INCORRECT WHEN I TRY TO LOG IN FOR THE FIRST TIME. WHAT DO I DO?

When you login for the first time, you need to login as the Caregiver to add your child. Make sure there are no additional spaces when typing in your caregiver email and password. This often happens if you are using copy/paste.  Make sure you have fully shut down the App before trying to login. Once you have added your child, shut down the game again before having your child login for the first time. When they login, they will need to use ther own Username (NIckname) and own password, and not yours.

  • I SCANNED THE QR CODE / CLICKED ON DOWNLOAD TO DOWNLOAD THE APP TO MY DEVICE, BUT I CAN'T FIND IT

Once you click on Download, the file can be found in your Dounloads on your device. Go to Downloads to find the Sparky file and click on it.  You will need to make sure your settings allow downloads from an unknown source (you can change it back later). Once you click on the Sparky file, it will automatically install on your device.
